What it does

Still Bass puts what a bass needs in one window. Sub, Lower, Upper and Treble are single knobs, each with three characters that pick where they work. Compress is one knob with three ways of working, and Drive keeps the low end clean while it adds grit above 220 Hz.

The octave sub adds a note an octave down from the DI, the amp sits beside the DI with a blend, and the chorus widens the highs while the lows stay mono. A tuner with Mute is built in for tuning on stage.

Key features

  • Sub (Deep, Round, Tight), Lower (Warm, Body, Box), Upper (Growl, Punch, Click), Treble (Bite, Top, Air)
  • Compress: Smooth (opto), Punch (FET), Squash; Drive: Warm, Grit, Fuzz (Grit and Fuzz above 220 Hz only)
  • Octave sub from the DI; amp (Valve, Modern, Vintage) blended with the DI at the same level
  • Chorus on the highs only (Subtle, Wide, Deep); the lows are made mono while it is in
  • Tuner from low B (31 Hz) with Mute; tone curve; In, GR and Out meters

Quick start

  1. Insert on the bass channel. Press Mute, tune, press Mute again.
  2. Pick a preset (Live DI, solid is a good start), then set Compress so GR reads 3–6 dB on the loud notes.
  3. Shape with Sub, Lower, Upper and Treble; click their characters to move where they work.
  4. Bass lost on phones and laptops? Add Upper (Growl) and a little Drive (Grit).

GOOD TO KNOW

Tested: flat settings stay within 0.3 dB from 41 Hz to 5 kHz; the octave sub follows an 82 Hz note and is gone 0.1 s after it; the tuner reads within 0.3 cent from 31 Hz up; switching any character while playing never clicks. About 2% of one core in stereo with everything on.
